Time & Location

Apr 14, 2026, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

White Reef Trailhead, Hurricane, UT 84737, USA

About The Event

We will hike in about a mile from the White Reef Trailhead in Red Cliffs National Conservation Area to reach a cluster of endangered Shivwits milkvetch plants. We will hand pull and bag, then carry out non-native encroaching starthistle that can choke out this endangered plant. They grow on a very specific soil type so it is important to protect this local population from other pressures. This project will be limited to 10 participants to prevent trampling the plants or excessive soil disturbance.

Please be prepared to bring leather gloves, sun protection, a hand weeder tool, drinking water for the hike, and knee pads (if desired).
